RE: Land Use Permits
CT-88-16/PIP 88-7
Dear Mike;
Thanks again for taking the time to meet with us on our Carlsbad project.
As discussed, Monday I will deliver revised plans covering the items
needed to complete the application.
Addressing the "issues of concern":
1) The driveway on Las Palmas has been eliminated.
2) Screening of the project will be satisfied with mounding as
indicated on the civil plan, together with landscaping.
3) Throughout the day, there may be 30 trips generated.
4) The equipment wash area will be used to clean off dried mud,
and some grease. There will be a separator installed at the
wash pit to trap the grease. This grease will periodically
be hauled away. (Hawthorne Machinery Company has a full-time
hazardous wastes expert on staff.)
5) One monument sign has been eliminated.
As you suggeeted, we will have a rendering of the project completed
prior to going before the planning commision.
To familiarize you with our rental service operation, I have enclosed
our latest brochure. There will be approximately eight employees at
the Carlsbad location, including the manager, rental developer, office
workers and mechanics. Contact with customers is primarily via telephone. The mechanics perform only routine maintenance and service; any equipment
that needs to be torn apart or requires major repair is sent to our
Kearny Mesa facility.. Ideally, all the equipment is off the site, out
on rental. In the event that equipment is starting to pile up, we send

h
it to Kearny Mesa.
I hope this provides you with the information you need to complete
our application. Please contact me immediately is there is anything
further you require. My hope is that we can get our application before the
Planning Commision on November 16th.
Sincerely yours,
Rosie Randenberg,
Real Estate Manager
