APPLICATIONS
The following example illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument, and
freestanding sign permit applications. Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential issues by the Traffic Engineering Department, which will not allow signs to be
approved over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationship to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver

Dear Ms. Waters:
We have reviewed the revised signage design submittal package for Bressi Ranch Lot
14. The plans were prepared by San Diego Electric Sign, which did not indicate a
revision date, and consisted of five (5) sheets. The project was prepared for Bressi
Ranch Self Storage.
It is understood that the ground mounted sign, G 1, is located on the site plan as
designated by the letter "B". It should be noted that the color of the lettering of all the
proposed signs have been revised from bright red to Royal blue.
The signage proposed is in compliance with the Bressi Ranch Design Guidelines which
states "All signage shall be compatible in appearance and scale with the adjacent
buildings and shall comply with requirements of Chapter 21.41 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code". It should be noted that the City of Carlsbad will have to issue a
permit for this signage.

25. Any outside storage of recreational vehicles, trucks or automobiles on this project site is
specifically prohibited. Developer shall construct, install, and stripe not less than
11 parking spaces, as shown on Exhibit "B."
26. Prior to issuance of any sign permit for the project, the Developer shall comply with
the Bressi Ranch Sign Program and the City of Carlsbad's Sign Ordinance Chapter
21.41 except as follows:

Signage for the project shaD be limited to one monument sign located along the
property's Palomar Airport Road frontage, but shall not be located to the west any
closer than 200 feet from the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and El Cambao
Real as measured from the curb return · and no further to the east than to the
Developer's property line. The monument sign must remain on the Developer's
property and cannot be located off-site or on El Camino ReaL The monument sign
shaD be limited to 25 square feet of area per face inclusive of the base. The
monument sign shall have compatible material with the architectural material of the
buildings. Wall signage for Building B shall be limited to a total of two 25-square-
foot maximum signs with one facing Palomar Airport Road and one facing El
Camino Real. No signage is permitted on Buildings A and 'B on the elevations that
face the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real (D:Orthwest).
Wall signage shaD be limited to one 50-square-foot maximum sign located on
Building A, facing the entrance to the self-storage facility (southeast) off of
Campbell Place. The Developer is allowed to have three diredional signs located on
the property and at the driveway entrance. Each sign shall be a maximum of six
square feet, four feet above average grade with six-inch letters as allowed per
Chapter 21.41 of the City of Carlsbad's Sign Ordinance. All signage for the project
must be approved by the Planning Director.
The Applicant shall be responsible to provide a Fire Hydrant within the ROW along
Palomar Airport Road with 400 LF of the apex of the comer of El Camino Real and
Palomar Airport Road.
Engineering:
General
28. Prior to hauling dirt or construction materials to or from any proposed construction site
within this project, Developer shall apply for and obtain approval from, the City Engineer
for the proposed haul route.
29. Prior to issuance of any building permit, Developer shaJl comply with the requirements of
the City's anti-graffiti program for wall treatments if and when such a program is
formally established by the City.
