5. Provide an elevation for all proposed sign(s) which specifies.the following:
A. Dimensions and area for all existing and proposed sign(s).
B. Materials the sign(s) will be constructed of.

D. Proposed sign copy.

APPLICATIONS
The following example Illustrates the information that is required for all pole, monument, and
freestanding sign· permit appllcations. · Prior to approval, all such proposed signs must be reviewed
for potential Issues by the Transportation Deparbnent, which wlll not allow signs to be approved
over the counter. Additional time will be required for on-site inspection.

Relationshlp to Streets: Signs shall be designed and located so as not to interfere with the
unobstructed clear view of the public right-of-way and nearby traffic regulatory signs of any
pedestrian, bicyclist or motor vehicle driver.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) of the Carlsbad Research Center (CRC) has been
made aware of the proposed modification to your existing wall sign located at 2261 Rutherford
Road.
The proposed modification consists of the removal of the 'leaf logo. This modification will
bring the lettering/logo vertical height to approximately J 8 inches, which is in conformance
with the CRC Design Guidelines (max imum letter/logo height is 24" for a building under
35,000 SF).
The CRC Design Guidelines require all letters of wall signs to be mounted on an aluminum
raceway that is painted the same color as the wall it is being mounted on, and not directly to the
building. It is understood that you will not be removing the entire sign, only the letter of the
sign that will be modified. For this reason, the ARC has agreed to approve your sign without
having the letters mounted to an aluminum raceway, but would like to note that the next time
the sign is modified, removed or replaced, it wiJI have to be remounted correctly per the Design
Guidelines.
Once the lettering/logo height is reduced per the proposed modification, your sign will be
considered APPROVED by the CRC ARC.
