SUBJECE SIGNAGE FOR PALOMAR TFUAD
The Planning Department staff has completed its review of the conceptual signage for building
number 1 of the Palomar Triad as proposed through sign permit application number SI 90-46.
Given the fact that this building is hinhlv visible from Palomar Airport Road, a major arterial that
is addressed in the Scenic Highways Element of the General Plan, and considering the existing
signage restrictions along Palomar Airport Road, staff has determined the following:
1) As shown on Exhibit "A" of PIP 85-7, only one monument sign identifying the
project by name (i.e. Palomar Triad) will be allowed on the comer of Palomar
Airport Road and Camino Vida Roble. This is in keeping with other multi-tenant
industrial and office projects. Directory signage that would list major tenants is
permitted at the project entrance off of Camino Vida Roble (location #S on the
attached site plan).
2) As discussed in the Scenic Highways Element of the General Plan, and as
exemplified in the sign program for Palomar Oaks Industrial project to the west of
your site, wall signage along scenic comdors must be strictly controlled. Because
the Palomar Triad is so highly visible, staff feels that sufficient identity exists in the
project without a company-specific wall sign. The industrial area is intended to
allow corporate offices and not commercial ventures that necessitate external
signage for advertising.
In summary, a project identifying monument sign is allowed on the comer of the project, as is a
directory sign at the project entrance. No wall signs will be permitted but if some additional
directory signage is needed to aide circulation within the project, staff will be glad to entertain your
proposals. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (619) 438-1161, extension 4329. *A Sincere&,
