RE: PS 92-54 - PLAZA PASEO REAL - SIGN PROGRAM AMENDMENT
Dear Ms. Webber:
Planning staff has reviewed the request to amend the Sign Program to add an additional
"D" type sign to the western elevation of Building "B" at the Plaza Paseo Real Shopping
Center. The existing signage for the western most suite, B-2, has adequate signage and
visibility. The existing "D" type sign at the front of the suite is visible from most of the ~
primary parking lot and quite noticeable while leaving both of the exits from the center
to Alga Road. There is also the availability to have a "E" type sign that faces Alga Road.
Planning staff has denied the requested amendment for the following reasons:
1. The proposed amendment would exceed the maximum allotted signage for
Building "B" per the Zoning Ordinance.
2. The program also has tried to reduce the amount of signage on the
western elevations because of the adjacent residential properties.
You have the right to appeal the this decision to the Planning Commission. Appeals must
be submitted in writing within ten (10) days of the decision to the Planning Commission
at 2075 Las Palmas Drive in Carlsbad, along with a payment of $470.00.
