Re: Enclosed Patio Room at 355 Carlsbad Village Drive
Dear Bob,
The Housing & Redevelopment Department has reviewed your request to build
an enclosed patio room on the second story residence of the existing mixed-use
building located at 355 Carlsbad Village Drive. As stipulated in your request, the
proposed patio enclosure is approximately 330 square feet and the total square
footage of the building is in excess of 4,000 square feet. The proposed addition
has been determined to be exempt from the redevelopment permit process as an
addition to an existing structure which results in a cumulative increase of less
than 10% of the internal floor area of the structure. Therefore, no land use
permits will be required.

RE: RP 01-05/CDP 01-14 NIELSEN ADDITION
Dear Bob:
On May 31, 2001 the Housing and Redevelopment Director conditionally approved
Administrative Redevelopment Permit No. RP 01-05 and Coastal Development Permit
No. CDP 01-14 for property located at 355 Carlsbad Village Drive. The decision of the
Housing and Redevelopment Director is subject to a ten (10) day appeal period. The
appeal period has elapsed and no appeals were filed.
Attached is a copy of the approved permit authorizing the addition of 433 square feet to
the existing residential unit on the second story of an existing mixed-use project.
Please review all conditions carefully. Violation of the conditions could result in
revocation of this permit.
Having completed the land use review process, the building permit for the above
referenced project may now be issued. Please check with the Building Department to
make sure there are no other outstanding issues associated with the issuance of the
building permit.

proceedings accompanied by the required deposit in an amount sufficient to cover the estimated cost of preparation of such a
record, the time within which such petition may be filed in court is extended to not later than thirty (30) days following the date
on which the record is either personally delivered or mailed to the party, or his attomey of record, if he has one. A written

SUBJECT: Nielsen Addition - 355 Carisbad Village Drive (RP 01 -05/CDP 01 -14)
Thank you for applying for a Land Use Permit in the City of Carisbad. The Housing and
Redevelopment Department, together with other appropriate City departments, has reviewed
your Major Redevelopment Permit/Coastal Development Permit, application no. RP 01-04/CDP
01-14, as to its completeness for processing.
The application is incomplete, as submitted. The attached list includes information that must be
submitted to complete your application. This list of items must be submitted directly to the
Housing & Redevelopment Office. All list items must be submitted simultaneously and a
copy of this list must be included with your submittal. No processing of your application
can occur until the application is determined to be complete. When all required materials are
submitted to the Redevelopment Office, the City has an additional thirty (30) days to make a
determination of completeness. If the application is determined to be complete, processing for
a decision on the application will be initiated. In addition, please note that you have six months
from the date the application was initially filed, April 6, 2001, to either resubmit the application
or submit the required information. Failure to resubmit the application or to submit the materials
necessary to determine your application complete shall be deemed to constitute withdrawal of
the application. If an application is withdrawn or deemed withdrawn, a new application must be
submitted.

Housing & Redevelopment:
Submit three (3) sets of revised plans to the Housing & Redevelopment Department with the
following added information:
1. On the site plan please include the following:

/ square feet); existing land use district (i.e. VR land use district 1); building square

3. Please note that once the application is found complete you must provide a complete public
notification package. In order to expedite this application you may submit the notification
package with your revised plans.
The public notification package shall include a radius map, a type written list of the names
and addresses of all property owners within a 300' radius of the subject property; and two
sets of mailing labels with names and addresses of all property owners within a 300' radius
of the subject property. The property owner list shall include the San Diego County
Assessor's parcel number from the latest assessment rolls. Except for single-family
residences, the apartment or suite number must be included on the address mailing labels
for property owners within a 300-foot radius of the subject property; the parcel number
should not be typed on the address labels. The radius map must be provided with a scale
not less than 1"=200' showing each lot within 300 feet of the exterior boundaries of the
subject property.
Since the property is also located within the coastal zone the following additional notification
materials are required: a radius map showing all parcels within a 100-foot radius of the
subject property; a list of addresses for all occupants within the 100-foot radius; and two-
sets if mailing labels addressed to "Occupant" for each address within the 100-foot radius.
Engineering:
1. On the site plan, plot the easements described under item 4 and 5 of the preliminary title
report.
