Re: Barbara McLain Properties, Sidewalk Sign RP 07-08.
Dear Ms. Maughan:
On June 27, 2007, our office notified you in writing stating the additional requirements needed in
order to approve your Sidewalk Sign Permit Application, RP 07-08. To date our office has not
received a response; therefore, our office is withdrawing your Sidewalk Sign Permit Applrcation.
Your Sidewalk Sign Permit Application cannot be approved unless the requested information is
provided.
If you plan to provide the additional information and request to move fonvard with the proposed
RP 07-08 Sidewalk Sign Permit Application, please notify me within 10 days from the date of
this letter. Otherwise, our office will consider a no reply to this letter as an agreement from you
in withdrawing the RP 07-08 Sidewalk Sign Permit Application.
In requesting a sidewalk sign in the future, you will be required to reapply for a Sidewalk Sign
Permit.

Subject: Barbara McLain Properties, Sidewalk Sign RP 07-08.
Dear Ms Maughan:
Thank you for applying for a Sidewalk/Freestanding Sign Permit in the City of Carlsbad.
There are some items that need to be submitted in order to process your application.
The attached list includes information that must be submitted to complete your
application. This iist of items must be submitted directly to the Housing &
Redevelopment Office. All list items must be submitted simultaneously and a
copy of this list must be included with your submittal. No processing of your
application can occur until the application is determined to be complete. When all
required materials are submitted to the Redevelopment Office, the City has an additional
thirty (30) days to make a determination of completeness. If the application is
determined to be complete, processing for a decision on the application will be initiated.
In addition, please note that you have six months from the date the application was
initially filed, June 25, 2007 to either resubmit the application or submit the required
information. Failure to resubmit the application or to submit the materials necessary to
determine your application complete shall be deemed to constitute withdrawal of the
application. If an application is withdrawn or deemed withdrawn, a new application must
be submitted.

LIST OF ITEMS NEEDED
TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION
RP 07-08
Staff has completed a review of the subject project for application completeness. The
applications and plans submitted for this project are incomplete at this time. Please
resubmit 2 sets of plans addressing the following incomplete items:
Housing & Redevelopment:
• Please provide 2 copies of a site plan including the following information.
i. Name and address of applicant.
ii. Location and dimension of proposed sidewalk/freestanding sign.
iii. Sidewalk dimensions in front of business.
iv. Locafion and dimension of business building, including locations
of, and dimensions of, entrances and exits to and from building.
V. Locafion and dimensions of exisfing parking areas, points of
vehicular access to the business, curb cuts providing handicap
accessibility to sidewalk.
vi. North arrow and scale for plans.
• Please provide 2 copies of building elevafions which clearly reflect the
locafion and total amount of exisfing signage on the business building or
property; these plans must reflect the size and type of each sign on the
exisfing business building and the exisfing sign copy. The building
elevations should identify any existing signage which will be removed if
the permit for sidewalk sign is approved.
• Please provide a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1 million
which lists the City of Carlsbad and Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency as
addifional insured.
