Building:
ISSUES OF CONCERN
This project appears to be include a change in use and occupancy of the space. A Certificate of
Occupancy Permit must be applied for through the Building Division prior to approval of the
discretionary permit and is required whether or not physical changes are made to the tenant space. The
new use and occupancy must comply with current Building codes for that occupancy. After this
discretionary permit is approved, submit to the building division complete tenant improvement (TI)
construction plans for the conversion. Typical plans include mechanical plans (includes size and location
of HVAC system), dimensioned floor plan, a detail of disabled accessible parking and restroom
compliance, occupancy type and occupant load. A complete building code review will be done when
detailed construction plans are submitted and reviewed by the Building Division. Additional comments
may follow after the review is completed. It is recommended that a design professional be retained to
draft plans and evaluate any building code issues.
