TO: DAVID RICK, PROJECT PLANNER
FROM: Karen Sauer, Management Analyst/CDBG Administrator
REDEVELOPMENT COMMENTS: RP 92-6 & CDP 92-5
Thank you for forwarding the plans for improvements at Maxton Brown Park to Housing
& Redevelopment Department. This project is funded by the Community Development
Block Grant program and we are pleased to see that significant progress will soon take
place. This project has been in the planning/design stage for quite some time and the
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) has indicated that the funds
allocated for the Maxton Brown Park project must be utilized as soon as possible or be
reallocated to another eligible project.
Every effort must be made to complete the bid process and award the contract as soon
as possible, so that construction could commence immediately. Completion of
construction prior to June 30,1992 would assist in avoiding a "finding" by HUD that could
jeopardize future funding opportunities.
The City/Redevelopment Agency must comply with appropriate federal regulations.
Please remember that the bid process for the Maxton Brown Park project should include
notification that this project must comply with federal prevailing wage requirements. If you
need information about federal prevailing wage requirements please let me know.
If road closures or re-routing of traffic will be required, please request that the contractor
notify the residents/businesses in the vicinity in advance. It would also be appreciated
if noisy removal activities would not occur during the early morning hours.
I would like to participate in any preconstruction meetings for the Maxton Brown Park
project in the Redevelopment Area. Please call me at x2818 if you have any questions
or comments. Thanks!
KAREN E. SAUER
