Your application has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved Sidewalk Sign Permit for your records. The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for, 1) as long as the Housing and Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign continues to meet the standards outlined within the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and Design Manual, and 3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is important to note that the Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an annual review of the sidewalk sign regulations to determine their continued applicability. In addition, as we discussed previously, the removal of the non-conforming intemally illuminated signs allows for the approval of your A-frame sign. However, it is the strong desire of the Redevelopment Agency that the sign stmctures that continue to remain on the building be removed as soon as possible. To assist in their removal, I have enclosed a copy of the Facade Improvement Program Application. The Facade Improvement Program can provide financial assistance for exterior building improvements, including the removal of the sign stmctures. Thank you for your cooperation. In order for any Village business to be permitted a Sidewalk Sign, all other existing signs must be in conformance v^dth the Carlsbad Village Redevelopment Master Plan. Your business currently has two intemally illuminated box signs, and the new Master Plan prohibits such signs. Although the signs are non-conforming under this regulation, you may continue to keep them. However, because of the non-conforming sign, your Sidewalk Sign Application cannot be approved. When we spoke previously, you stated your intention to remove the two box signs to meet the Master Plan Requirement. In order to complete our review, staff is requesting further information. Section 5 of the application requires information on the total square footage of all existing building signs. The building elevation provided does not show the size and square footage of all existing signs. Please revise the elevation and resubmit it to the Housing and Redevelopment Agency.
