Subj ect: Notice of Violation
Dear Mr. Feldman:
On June 9, 1997, the Housing and Redevelopment Department approved your application
for a sidewalk sign, subject to certain conditions of approval. One of the conditions was
that all other signs for your business were consistent with the standards contained within
the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and Design Manual.
Recently, City staff has become aware of several new signs which have been added to
your business without prior approval from Housing and Redevelopment Department.
Specifically, there are additional window and wall signs that have been displayed without
benefit of a sign permit. Because the signs are in violation of the Village Master Plan,
you are also in violation of your sidewalk sign permit.
To resolve this situation, you must either: (1) Remove the non-permitted signs, or (2)
Submit a revised sign permit application to this office seeking approval of the additional
signs. Regardless of the option selected, you will be required to be in compliance with
the Master Plan no later than March 9, 1998. Failure to comply with this requirement
WILL result in the revocation of the sign permit AND the removal of the sidewalk sign
by the City.
If you have any questions about the above information, please call me at (760) 434-2817.
Sincerely,
Craig D. Ruiz

Subject: Approval of Sidewalk Sign Permit
Dear Mr. Feldman:
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit. Your application
has been approved. Attached is a copy of the approved Sidewalk Sign Permit for your
records.
The attached permit allows you to retain your sign for, 1) as long as the Housing and
Redevelopment Commission allows sidewalk signs to remain, 2) as long as the sign
continues to meet the standards outlined within the Carlsbad Village Master Plan and
Design Manual, and 3) as long as the sign is consistent with this permit approval. It is
important to note that the Housing and Redevelopment Commission will complete an
annual review of the sidewalk sign regulations to determine their continued applicability.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you should have any questions about the above
information, please call me at (619) 434-2817.
Sincerely,
Craig D. Ruiz
