CRITERIA
Zone 1 should be utilized only in areas of a
development which require a lush green landscape
such as areas of high use or visual importance.
The plantings require an intensive maintenance
operation to produce the desired appearance.
This Zone's anticipated appearance relies on large
amounts of irrigation. Annual amounts for a healthy,
mature landscape are estimated at over 30" of
supplemental water annually.
Zone 2 should have an unmanicured appearance, not
unkept, but rather a landscape designed to require
less intensive types of maintenance such as mowing,
pruning, fertilizing, and watering. Plant material
whose appearance is not dependent an heavy
watering and maintenance care.
lt stresses continually low maintenance by designed
plant combinations with matched growth
requirements. This zone's water requirement for a
mature landscape is estimated between 1 0" and 30"
of supplemental irrigation water annually.

IRRIGATION PLANS CONTAINED IN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD'S WATER
EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE REGULATIONS. I UNDERSTAND THAT
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS ARE TO BE PREPARED IN COMPLIANCE
\MTH THOSE REGULATIONS AND THE LANDSCAPE MANUAL. I CERTIFY
THAT THE PLANS WILL BE PREPARED IMPLEMENTING THOSE
REGULATIONS TO PROVIDE EFFICIENT USE OF WATER.
