SUBJECT: SDU 98-15 - Rancho Carrillo, Village J, Lot 6
Thank you for applying for Land Use Permits in the City of Carlsbad. The Planning Department
has reviewed your application for a Second Dwelling Unit (SDU), application no. SDU 98-15, as
to its completeness for processing.
The application is complete, as submitted. Although the initial processing of your application
may have already begun, the technical acceptance date is acknowledged by the date of this
communication. The City may, in the course of processing the application, request that you
clarify, amplify, correct, or otherwise, supplement the basic information required for the
application. In addition, you should also be aware that various design issues may exist. These
issues must be addressed before this application can be scheduled for a hearing. The Planning
Department will begin processing your application as of the date of this communication.

ISSUES OF CONCERN
NO. SDU 98-15
Planning:
1. The garages measure approximately 9’ by 20’ (SDU parking) and 18’ by 20’ for the main
dwelling unit parking. Please be advised that the minimum dimension is 20’ by 20’ to meet
parking requirements for the main dwelling unit, however, this will not be enforced through
the SDU application process. However, the main dwelling unit parking requirement may be
enforced during the building plan check process.
2. Please include on the plans a summary table as described in the Application Requirements
for Second Dwelling Unit checklist. The table should include lot area, existing zone and
land use, number of parking spaces and total building coverage in addition to building
square footage information. Also include school, sewer, and water districts.
3. Please provide an 8.5” by 11” location map.
4. Please provide the required Affidavit of Compliance for the SDU.
