Assistant Planning Director, Gary Wayne, stated that this item is technically required to be heard in a public hearing context. However, Staff believes this item is non-controversial and is recommending approval. Staff suggested that the Public Hearing be opened and closed and a motion entertained. He also stated that if there is anyone who wishes to speak, this item can be heard in the normal fashion. MINUTES PLANNINGCOMMISSION W July 2, 1997 ^ Page 2 Chairperson Nielsen announced that if the Commission recommends approval of this item it will be forwarded to the City Council for its consideration. Chairperson Nielsen opened the Public Hearing and seeing no one wishing to testify, closed the Public Hearing. ACTION: Motion by Commissioner Compas, and duly seconded, to adopt Planning Commission Resolution No. 4132, recommending approval of Street Name Change No. SNC 97-01, based upon the findings and subject to the conditions contained therein. Commissioner Savary, stated her approval of the name change but added that she would like to see the use of Spanish names discontinued in Area 7. She stated that it is her opinion that Spanish names are sometimes quite difficult for Americans to pronounce and can also be very confusing to both residents and visitors.
