FOURTH DONATION OF MASKS

The County of San Diego began requiring residents to wear a face covering when in public beginning
May 1, 2020. On May 21, 2020, County of San Diego donated an additional 72,000 face masks to the
City of Carlsbad's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The total number of masks received from the
County is now 183,000. The masks are for use by employees and residents, to be distributed by the
EOC, the Police Department, and vorunteers and will enhance public health and safety, and to facilitate
the reopening of allowed businesses.
Pursuant to CMC 6.04.100, the City Manager was able to accept the donation as the Director of
Emergency Services without City Council approval, as stated below.

The purpose of this memo is to notify City Council of the accepted donation. There are no matching
funds required for the donation.
