Re: Coronavirus Response Update 68
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the City Council with an update on the city’s
response actions related to COVID-19. This memo focuses on actions and information that are
new since the last update.
Emergency Operations Center
• Emergency Operations Center activated to support COVID-19 mitigation and
response operations and information sharing.
• Regional status of outbreak (All data from June 7 at 5 p.m.)

Human Resources
• Status of employees with possible COVID-19 exposure is unchanged: all 45 employees
who may have been exposed have been cleared to return to work.
Library & Cultural Arts
• Now offering access to thousands of live, online tutors for grades K-12, college-level
work and adult learners through a partnership with Tutor.com. Career tutors are also
available to help job seekers navigate their job searches, work on resumes and prepare
for interviews. The service is free for city library cardholders.
• Genealogy division released a new video introducing genealogists to a tool to reveal
hidden genealogy records
Parks & Recreation
• Postponed special event permit for Art in the Village, originally scheduled for June 28,
2020. Event has been tentatively rescheduled for August 23, at the request of the event
organizer.
• Canceled special event permit for Flicks at the Fountain from July 9 to July 30, originally
scheduled for July 9 to August 13, 2020 (Thursday nights). Event is scheduled to resume
on August 6 to August 13, at the request of the event organizer.
• Canceled special event permit for Vettes for Veterans, originally scheduled for
November 7, 2020, at the request of the event organizer.
Communication & Engagement
• Communicated via city communication channels about the following topics related to
the COVID-19 public health emergency:
o How to supply verbal comments during the online City Council meeting
o Joint Economic Recovery and Revitalization webinar for Carlsbad businesses
o Virtual summer camps for kids ages 3-5
