Memo ID# 2020118
This memorandum provides an update on the status of the Climate Action Plan (CAP)
Amendment No. 1.
Background
On May 12, 2020, the City Council received a CAP Progress Report from staff. Part of that report
described the actions being taken to update the CAP, including new greenhouse (GHG) emissions
inventories, reduction targets and projections. Staff noted that the inclusion of Community
Choice Energy as a CAP measure would allow the city to reach its 2035 reduction target.
Discussion
Staff has completed the draft CAP updates. Staff posted the proposed CAP Amendment No. 1
document on the city's website so the public could familiarize themselves with the proposed
updates. The document is available at:
https://www.carlsbadca.gov/services/depts/pw/environment/cap/default.asp .
A redlined/strikeout version is available upon request.
Next Steps
Presentation of the CAP Amendment No. 1 is tentatively scheduled for the July 14, 2020, City
Council meeting.
