This memorandum provides the City Council with an update on the city’s response actions
related to COVID-19. This memo focuses on actions and information that are new since the last
update.

Parks & Recreation
• Update on senior meal program:
o During the past week, provided 725 meals to Carlsbad residents 60 or older.
425 meals were delivered to residents’ homes by staff
300 meals were picked-up at the Senior Center by residents
o Total number of meals provided is a 3% increase in the average total number of
meals served before the pandemic.
The total number of meals provided was lower than that of most weeks’
numbers due to the Veterans Day holiday
o Picked up boxes of donated fresh produce from the Carlsbad Strawberry Company
and re-distributed the produce through the senior meal program.
Communication & Engagement
• Communicated via city communication channels about the following topics related to the
COVID-19 public health emergency:
o Daily case data including highest single day record
o State’s halt on its blueprint for reopening and what changes it brings
o State travel advisory
