Field Notes/Activities/Observations:
On November 2nd, 3rd and 5th, 2009, Dudek habitat restoration specialist Stuart Fraser conducted irrigation and plant inspections for the Rancho
Santa Fe 'Road Bridge Offsite Mitigation Area. Plant inspections were conducted on November 2nd, 3rd and 5th and included inspecting delivered
plants and verifying placement of tree species. On November 3rd, an irrigation mainline pressure check for the mainline servicing the upstream
mitigation areas (east of the waterfall) was conducted. The extent of the mainline for this stretch is above grade. Dudek met with Green Horizon
representative Antonio for all coordination. Comments and recommendations are included below. Figure 1 contains photos from the inspections.
'Plant Inspections:
The November 2nd inspection consisted of verifying tree planting locations for mitigation areas downstream (west) of the waterfall. Dudek
made minor adjustment to pin flagged plant locations, primarily moving willows (Arroyo lasiolepis, A. gooddingn) to wetter locations and
sycamores (Plafanus racemosa) and Mexican elderberry (Sambucus mexicanus) to drier locations. Recommendations were made to
install additionalplantsin the upstream quarry area (enhancement areas).
2. The November 3rd inspection consisted of checking in tree container plants and irrigation coverage check (discussed below). All plants
delivered appeared to be healthy and adequately rooted in their container but not root bound. All containers appeared free from weeds
and non-beneficial insects. During the morning visit, trees were placed at the location of planting. Dudek made minor adjustment to
proposed installation locations. At the afternoon visit, Dudek recommended that all basins were hand watered-in and for basins to be
created around each container tree installed (per the 'plan detail and specifications). The following plants were inspected:
Platanus racemosa (1 gal.) —55
Salix gooddingii (1 gal.) - 100
Salix lasiolepis (1 gal.) - 306
Sambucus mexicanus (1 gal.) —65
3. The November 5th inspection consisted of checking in shrub container plants and assisting the contractor in placement. All plants
delivered appeared to be healthy and adequately rooted in their container but not root bound. All containers appeared free from weeds
and non-beneficial insects. During the morning visit trees were placed at the location of planting. Dudek made recommendations for
placing particular weltand plant, based on site hydrology and tree placement. The following plants were inspected:
a. Anemopsis califomica (1 gal.) - 1500

4. On November 3rd, Dudek conducted the mainline pressure check for the on-grade section of the pressure mainline east (upstream) of the
waterfall. Dudek verified the mainline was pressured to a minimum of 150 psi during the morning inspection. The inspection was at
approximately 11:00 AM. Dudek returned to the site at approximately 2:55 PM and confirmed that the pressure was maintained above 150
PSI.
