In accordance with the requirements of the City of Carlsbad, we have performed laboratory tests on
representative samples of the import Class 2 Aggregate Base (AB) material placed on April 16,
2004 as part of the pavement section for the El Camino Real Widening Project adjacent to Bressi
Ranch located in Carlsbad, California. Three representative samples of the Class 2 AB were
sampled and transported to our laboratory. Laboratory tests performed on the representative
samples included sand equivalent (in accordance with ASTM Test Method D2419) and sieve
analysis (in accordance with ASTM Test Method C136). The results of the laboratory tests are
presented on Tables 1 through 3.
Based on the City of Carlsbad requirements and the Caltrans specifications (Section 26-1.02A) as
indicated on Table 1, the representative Class 2 aggregate base samples met the city requirements.
