In accordance with the requirements of the City of Carlsbad, we have performed laboratory tests on
representative samples of the import Class 2 Aggregate Base (AB) material placed on April 24,
2004 as part of the pavement section for a portion of Alverton Drive and Lismore Place within
Bressi Ranch Planning Area PA-10 located in Carlsbad, California. Two representative samples of
the Class 2 AB were sampled and transported to our laboratory. Laboratory tests performed on the
representative samples included sand equivalent (in accordance with ASTM Test Method
D2419) and sieve analysis (in accordance with ASTM Test Method C136). The results of the
laboratory tests are presented on Tables 1 through 3.
Based on the City of Carlsbad requirements and the Caltrans specifications (Section 26-1.02A) as
indicated on the tables, the representative Class 2 aggregate base samples generally met the city
requirements. However, the sample on Lismore Place at Station No. 2+00 was slightly out of
specification with respect to the percent passing the No. 4, No. 30, and No. 200 sieves (i.e. all
three values were 1- to 2-percent over the maximum value).
