Dear Mr. Merry:
In accordance with your request, we have prepared this update to the above-referenced as-graded
geotechnical report. To prepare this update report we have reviewed the referenced "as-graded" report
and grading plans.
Review of Reference No. I indicates the building pad on Lot 2 - Parcel 2 was undercut during grading is in underlain by approximately 9 feet of fill. Based on laboratory testing of soils during previous
grading, the soils beneath the building pad have a "low" to "medium" expansion potential. The soils
also have negligible to severe corrosion potential with respect to concrete, and are very corrosive to
buried metal. As indicated in Reference 1, additional sampling and testing for expansion index,
soluble sulfate content, pH and resistivity should be performed on finish grade soils on the building
pad at the completion of fine grading.
Based on review of the referenced grading plan, finish pad elevation will remain essentially the same
as it was at the completion of mass grading. The plan indicates that fine grading will result in cuts and
fills from existing grade of approximate 2 feet or less to achieve parking lot grades.
Prior to placing fill, the existing fill should be scarified, moisture conditioned, and recompacted. Fill
soils may then be placed and compacted in layers to design finish-grade elevations. All fill, including
backfill and scarified ground surfaces, should be compacted to at least 90 percent of laboratory

maximum dry density at or slightly above optimum moisture content, as determined by ASTM Test
Procedure D 1557.
Previous reports prepared for the property did not include seismic design parameters per the 2007
California .B.uilding..Code. These. parameters were provided -in Reference .3......
It is the opinion of Geocon Incorporated that the conclusions and recommendations presented in
Reference-1 remain applicable for continUeddevelopment on the Lot. This letter therefore updates the
refeñed as-graded report.

Very truly yours,
