Dear Mr. Arriaga:
In accordance with your request, Southern California Soil and Testing, Inc. (SCS&T) prepared this
report to verify that compaction testing and observations required for the subject pad has been
completed. This pad was initially graded as part of mass grading operations for the La Costa
Commercial Development between December 1, 2012 and February 28, 2014. A summary of the
results of the field observations and testing performed during the mass grading operations is referenced
above.
Additional remedial grading was performed on Pad 12 between September 10 and September 17, 2014.
This grading consisted of excavating the pad 5 feet below existing grade. Horizontally the excavation
extended at least 5 feet beyond the new planned building perimeter. In our opinion, grading was
performed in general accordance with the project requirements and local grading ordinances. The
tested fill material met or exceeded the minimum relative compaction requirement. An addendum As-
Graded Geotechnical report is forthcoming.

In accordance with a' request from Mr. Fred S Matthews with Lusardi Construction Cbmpany,
Southern California Soil: and Testing, Inc., (SCS&T) has prepared this letter to provide
alternative recommendations for fill slope construction.
It is reôommended that fills placed within a minimum hOrizontal distance of 6 feet,from the face
of the slopes consist of predominantly 3/4 inch or smaller 'particles ,with less than 40 percent rock '
fragments 12 inches or smaller. Rock fills with maximum rockfragments of 4 feet, may be
placed beyond said zore. Both 'zones should be built simultaneously. Proper 'staking and.
grading procedures should be followed to maintain the minimum 6-foot width previously
described .throughout the'slope. S S • •
