~ubject: Interim Report of Site Conditionl
Riva Gardens ReSidential Development _. CT01-1~

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Spano:
Job No. 02-8291
In accordance with your request, Geotechnical Exploration, Inc. is in the process
of investigating soli conditions at the residential site on Chestnut Street. Our work
to date has included revIew of pertinent geologie reports and maps, observations of
the site and surrounding vicinity, and subsurface soil testing around the existing
structures ,and proposed bUilding and improvement lo~tions. Our field work was
conducted on July 25, 2002, and included excavation of five hand-excavated test
pits. It is our understanding that the residential lot is being split Into 5 parcels and
is being developed to receive 3 addItIonal residential structures.
We found the site to be ,IJnderiain by medium dense terrace deposit ,formational
materials. Existing cultivated topsoils appear to have a thickness ranging from 18
to 24 inches. The topsofls consist of silty ftme to medium sands. When pr()perlv
prepared and moisture conditioned, the topsoils will have good load-bearIng
, '
properties. The underlying terrace deposit formational materiais were found to be
low expansive and have excellent load-bearing properties.
It' is our opinion that the site can be developed utilizing standard grading
techniques and conventional foundations and slabs on-grade floors.
