Lots 19 to 22 of Carlsbad Tract CT-02-15, Bressi Ranch, 'Carlsbad,
California, Project No. 10570.001, dated January 21, 2014
As requested, this letter presents a GeotéchniOal Update for the proposed commercial'
development and associated improvements at Lots 19 to 22 of Carlsbad Tract CT-02-15
" in the Bressi Ranch area of Carlsbad, California. The purpose of this update study was
to review our previous geotechnical report (Leighton, 2014), and to provide additional
geotechnical recommendations. We also performed a site visit on' May 201 2015 to
observe the current site conditions.
Based on our observations of the current site conditions and review of the referenced
project geotechnical document, the geotechnical conditions of the subject site have not
•. changed since the completion of our geotechnical report (Leighton, 2014). Therefore, it

is our professional opinion that the geotechnical recommendations presented in the
referenced geotechnical report are still applicable for its intended use, provided the
following recommendations are inaorporáted into the design and construction of the
structures and. improvements.
The conclusions and recommendations in this letter are based in part upon data that
were obtained from a limited number of observations, site visits, excavations, samples,
and tests Such information is by necessity incomplete The nature of many sites is such
that differing geotechnical or geological conditions can occur within small distances and
under varying 'climatic conditions. Changes in subsurfaôe conditions can and do 'occur'
over time Therefore, the findings, conclusions, and recommendations presented in this
report can be relied upon only if Leighton has the opportunity to observe the subsurface
conditions during grading and construction of the project, in order to confirm that our
preliminary findings are representative for the site
If you have any questions regarding our recommendations, please contact this office We
appreciate this opportunity to be of service
Respectfully submitted
