Project (Approximately 7+-Acre Parcel), in the City of
Carlsbad, California, dated June 2, 2005 (Work Order
401036), by Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc.
Dear Ms. Molina:
Presented herein is Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc.'s (PSE) addendum to the preliminary
geotechnical investigation report for the La Costa Ridge project, Neighborhood 2.6, located in
the City of Carlsbad, California. The following report is a supplement to the referenced report.
The referenced report stated that asphaltic concrete debris may be placed in the upper five (5)
feet of roadway fills and should be less than eight (8) inches in maximum dimension. This
recommendation was meant to limit the impact of oversized materials affecting utility trenching.
From a geotechnical perspective, asphalt debris may also be placed below the upper five feet of
fill. The maximum size of the asphalt debris that may be placed is at your discretion, however,
consideration should be given to limiting the debris size to eight (8) inch minus, one (1) foot
below the deepest utility and above in street areas to facilitate utility trenching.
