Allowable Bearing Capacity, Southern End of Easterly Retaining Wall, Proposed La Costa
Villas Project, Lot 401, Gibraltar Street, Carlsbad (CT 13-06 / GR14-36)
This letter is to confirm that based on our inspections, the eastern wall foundation and shear key
trenches expose formation materials. Condition of site formational materials exposed the foundation
trenches, as well as the temporary wall backcut were further discussed in the daily field report dated
February 3, 2015 prepared by our engineering geologist.
Based on our analysis and experience with similar formational units, a maximum allowable
foundation bearing capacity of 4500 psf is acceptable to us for a minimum 6 feet wide by 16 inches
deep foundations developed into these materials at the southern ends portions of the eastern wall.
If you have any questions or need clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned.
