SUBJECT: Review of Footing for East Side, Site, Retaining Wall Foundation
Dear Mr. Mortazavi
Per your request, a representative of Accutech Engineering visited the subject property as well as reviewed
documents provided by various consultants and field and laboratory testing companies regarding the retaining wall
footing at your site. We also measured the footing while at the site:
The footing width for the approved plan was seven feet six inches (7'-6"). In most cases the actual width was
eight feet (8') and in no cases was it less than seven feet six inches (7'-6").
Concrete special inspection and testing substantiated a concrete strength of three thousand two hundred and
fifty (3,250) PSI whereas the specified strength was two thousand five hundred (25,000) PSI.
A footing inspection was conducted by the soil engineer of record.
Many (50±) color photographs were made available to us for review.
Wood stakes used to support the forming, which were left in the concrete during the placement were
subsequently removed, and the cavities created were filled with non-shrink grout.
The concrete for the footing was placed with a boom pump and manually consolidated by six laborers using a
"rodding" technique.
Special inspection of the actual footing reinforcement and concrete placement was witnessed by a special
inspector.
Between all of the above documents and our site visit, we believe that the concrete footing as constructed is suitable
