At the request of Mr. Morrison, City Inspector, we have per-
formed twelve (12) field density tests in'the subbase material and
six (6) field density tests in the base material within the refer-
enced project, Carlsbad, California. The fi~ld density tests were
done in accordance with A.S.T.M. 0-1-556, the Sand Cone method.
One laboratory compaction test was also'performed to determine
the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of the fill
material. The other tests used were previously determined during
grading. All of these tests were performed in accordance with
A.S.T.M. D-1557-64T (method A).
The test locations and elevations were designated by Mr. Morrison.,
In our opinion these tests were not taken ~Ii, the worst location which
is the usual practice since if the streets fail, they ~ill fail in
the worst areas. A summary' of the test results is presented on the
following pages.
