Gentlemen:
In accordarle with your request this firm has inspected and tested
the compac :d fill placed on the subject site between February 18
and February 21, 1975. A plan of the site showing the test locat-
ions and other data pertinent to this report is attached as figure number 1.
Reference data used in the preparation was a Report of Soils Inves-
tigation, dated 11-5-74, prepared by this firm and a Grading Plan
of the site prepared by Brian Smith Engineers, Inc.
Ground preparation, grading and testing of the site were conducted
in the following manner:
SITE PREPARATION
1. No surface or subsurface structures were present on the site upon our arrival. 2. Surface debris and vegetation were stripped and hauled offsite.
2:
No trees were present on the site.
The exposed surface of the natural ground was prepared to rec- eive fill by scarifying to a depth of 8 inches, watering as
necessary and compacting to minimum requirements.
GRADING
1. Fill soils were spread in 6 to 8 inch loose lifts, watered as
necessary and compacted to minimum requirements.
2. The method used for adding moisture and compacting was a water truck and rolling with a dual 5X5 aheepsfoot roller.

Job No.: 4-123
TESTING
- 1. Maximum density and optimum moisture were determined for each
type of fill soil in accordance with ASTM test method D1557-70. 2. Field density tests were performed in accordance with ASTM
test method D1556.
3. Expansion tests using a 60 P.S.F. surcharge load were performed
on typical samples of the fill soils remolded to 90% compaction. 4. Results of the field density tests taken during the course of
grading are attached as a part of this report.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The soils on the site are considered nonexpansive. No remedial construction measures are deemed necessary.
The allowable soil bearing value for continuous and square foot- ings imbedded a minimum of 12 and 18 inches below the lowest adj- acent finished grade shall be 1500 and 1750 P.S.F. respectively
The foregoing values are for dead and live loads and may safely be increased l/3 for temporary horizontal forces.
It is the opinion of this firm that the fill placed on the sub-
ject site, as reported herein, has been properly compacted and
placed on a suitably prepared subgrade and is suitable for the
purpose intended.

Respectfully submitted,
