SUBJECT: COMPACTION TEST RESULTS cct--B1-qb Fine Grading to Correct Drainage and Match Grading Plans on Lots 21 & 22, Carlsbad Airport Centre, Unit 1 Carlsbad, California ENGINEERING DEPT. LIBRARY
City of Carlsbad
Gentlemen: 2075 Las Palmas Drive Carlsbad CA920094859
This letter summarizes the results of our testing and observation
services performed during fine grading of Lots 21 & 22 of Carlsbad
Airport Centre, Unit 1 on June 27, 1989 and July 5, 1989. The
grading contractor for this work was Naton Engineering. Civil
Engineering was provided by Bodas Engineering.
Areas which received fill were scarified and moisture conditioned
prior to fill placement. Fill soils were moistened to near optimum
moisture content and compacted. Equipment used for compaction
consisted of a blade and water truck.

The approximate test locations are shown on the attached Site Plan,
Figure 1. Density tests were performed in accordance with ASTM
D2922-81 and D3017-78 (Nuclear Methods).
Maximum density and optimum moisture relationships were determined
using ASTM D1557-78 (Modified Proctor). Results of laboratory
tests are contained in Table 1, and field density tests are shown
in Table II.

In our opinion, fine grading and compaction operations were
performed in general accordance with the recommendations provided
by Moore and Taber in their report dated February 25, 1987, Job No.
285-256, and the requirements of the City of Carlsbad.
LIMITATIONS OF INVRSTIGATION
Our investigation was performed using the degree of care and skill
ordinarily exercised, under similar circumstances, by reputable
soils engineers and geologists practicing in this or similar
localities. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as
to the conclusions and professional advice included in this report.
The samples taken and used for testing and the observations made
are believed representative of the entire project: however, soil
and geologic conditions can vary significantly.
