dated November 20, 1998, by GeoSoils, Inc.
Dear Ms. Ford,
At the request of Ms. Patti Blount, with Brookfield Homes, GeoSoils, Inc. (GSl) has
evaluated a proposed reduction of the sideyard drainage swale distance from
approximately 5 feet to approximately 3 feet to the building footprint. Based on our
evaluation, the minimum distance from a given structure to the flow line of the side yard
drainage swale may be reduced from 5 feet, per City Standard GS-1 5, to a minimum of 3
feet. Due to the decreased setback from structure to drainage swale, footings for adjacent
structures should maintain a minimum embedment equivalent to 12 inches below the flow
line elevation for any adjacent drainage swale. Trenching for any utilities adjacent to a
footing should remain above a 1:1 projection downward from the outside bottom edge of
the footing. All trench backfill should be compacted to a minimum 90 percent relative
compaction.
