"Limited Site Investigation, Proposed 26-Unit
Apartment Complex, 4 Vacant Lots, North Side of
La Costa Avenue, West of Romeria Street, City
of Carlsbad, California", Project No. • 01-
1247Gl ( 1), Prepared By East County Soil
Consul tat ion and Engineering, Inc., Dated June
9, 2001.
Dear Mr. Goethals:
your request,this addendum has been
prepared in response to the City of Carlsbad's Review of
Documents to address the stability of the existing fill
slopes and reevaluate the drainage swale location with
regard to the structures at the subject site.
In accordance with
SLOPE STABILTY ANYLSIS
Based upon the results of direct shear tests performed on
undisturbed samples of the fill and formational soils, it is
our opinion that the 1 1/2 to 1 (horizontal to vertical)
existing fill and cut slopes along the northern property
line will be grossly and surficially stable.
However, a review of the boring logs indicate that loose to
medium dense fill soils underlie the existing pads. In
addition, surf icial erosion was observed on the existing
fill slopes. Therefore, we recommmend that the fill slopes
be recompacted to a minimum of 90 percent relative

A Critical Failure Surface Searching Method, Using A Random
Technique For Generating Circular Surfaces, Has Been Specified.
100 Trial Surfaces Have Been Generated.
10 Surfaces Initiate From Each Of 10 Points Equally Spaced
Along The Ground Surface Between X = 20.00 ft.
and X = 60.00 ft.
Each Surface Terminates Between
and
X = 120.00 ft.
X = 170.00 ft.
Unless Further Limitations Were Imposed, The Minimum Elevation
At Which A Surface Extends Is Y = .00 ft.
10.00 ft. Line Segments Define Each Trial Failure Surface.
Following Are Displayed The Ten Most Critical Of The Trial
Failure Surfaces Examined. They Are Ordered -Most Critical
First.
