FOUNDATION DESIGN
Gentlemen:
In accordance with the request of Mr. Wes Adachi, Courtney + Le Architects, this letter has been
prepared to finalize the foundation design recommendations for the Say-On Drug Store planned
for the subject retail facility.
Grading of the building pad was recently completed. Based on the as-graded site conditions,
specifically the fill thickness differential, the pad is classified as a Category III for foundation
design. This category specifies a concrete slab thickness of not less than 5 inches and reinforced
with No. 3 bars at 18 inches on-center, each way, a footing depth of at least 24 inches as
measured below lowest adjacent grade, and that the exterior canopy footings be tied to the
building foundation with grade beams. Other details for this category are presented in the
updated project soils report
This recommendation will be presented in an interim report of grading to be issued shortly.
