Mr Garrison,
Along with the order to remove the addition, on our residence, was a copy of
the letter sent February 19,1991 by Carter Darnell, reguarding plancheck 90-507 In
his letter Mr Darnell stated, "It is our desiie to solve code violations in the simplest
way, but we must coclude that you no longer wish to legalize this violation "
Well that is not the case at all, we defmately want to conect this situation Had I
received the letter from Mr Darnell I would have contacted him at that time, but my
Mother (Kathenne Baum) did not forward it to me My mother is retired, living in
the house, while my primary residence is in Simi, Ca
We puchased the house from a local licensed contractor, although we were told
that there were no building permits we were appalled at the number and seventy of
code violations When the list of corrections came back I instructed and paid the
architect, who drew the plans, to precede with the necessary collections They wei e
supposed to be finished in three to tour months He had some setbacks, but I must
take responsibility for not persuing the project from September on due to the tact
that 1 have been unemployed trying to start my own company Since the first ot the
year the architect has failed to complete his obligation even undei the thieat of legal
action Since February I have tried to get the architect to return all the paper work to
another engineer to hopefuly finish, so we can continue
I know this letter may be too little too late, but we really would like to correct
the violations Unfortunately, with my mother on a fixed income and the large debt
] have incurred since October, it will be financially as well as physically impossable
tor us to remove the addition by the deadline imposed 1 imagine it is to late to alter
the proceedings, but if at all possible, I would like to puisue the completion of the
project since I have already paid a good deal of money to solve the problems
My apologies for the lengthy explanation, but I wanted you to know we leally
want to finish the pi oject I know your hands may be tied, but any assistance would
be giatefully appreciated Thank you for all that you folks at the building
department have done, if there is any hope or alternative please contact me
Respectfully yours,

PLANCHECK 90-507 LEGALIZE EXISTING ADDITION
You applied for this plancheck on March 27, 1990. It will expire on
the same date this year, approximately one month from now.
You have corrections from three departments which were sent to you
between March 29 and April 6 of last year. Since then we have heard
nothing from you.
It is our desire to solve code violations in the simplest way, but we
must conclude that you no longer wish to legalize this violation, and
after reading the correction lists, we realize it may not be possible
to do so. Your alternative is to remove the addition. Please call
for an inspection when you have done this.
of this letter I am informing the Enforcement Officer of your
lap-tf of action. If the plan check expires March 27, 1991, I assume
will take whatever legal action is necessary.
