Front Transfer Side Transfer
Here's an exception that makes allowances for single occupancy toilet rooms in
existing buildings. Remember, these are minimum requirements and the point
here is not how small can we make this room> but hov can De make it
accessible.
As a concession to the unique problems found in existing buildings, OS A has
allowed either a front or a side transfer toilet stall. Do not forget in a
single occupancy toilet room you do not need the 60" dimension circle; you do
need to be able to get in and use the room and get out.
(h) Grab Bars.
1. Location. Grab bars located on each side, or one side of
the back of the physically handicapped toilet stal1 or
compartment shall be securely attached 33-m (838.2 mm) above ana
parallel to the floor. Grao bars at the side snail be at 'east
42-in (1066.8 rcm) long with tne front end positioned 24-'n
(509.5 mm) in front of the water closet stool and grab bars at
the back shall be not less than 36-in (914.4 mm) long.
