GENERAL
Please make all corrections, as requested in the correction list. Submit FOUR new
complete sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects .. For expeditious processing,
corrected sets can be submitted in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 602-
2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering and
Fire Departments.
2. Bring TWO corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil, 9320 Chesapeake
Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all remaining sets of
plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building Department for
routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil only will not be reviewed by the City
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil is complete.
1. Each sheet of the plans must be signed by the person responsible for their
preparation, even if there are no structural changes. California State Law.
Signatures on the final sets of plans will be verified before they are approved.
2. Plans and calculations shall be signed by the California state licensed engineer
or architect where there are structural changes to existing buildings or structural
additions. Please include the California license number, seal and date plans are
signed. California Business and Professions Code. Signatures on the final sets
of plans will be verified before they are approved.
3. Provide a Building Code Data Legend on the Title Sheet. Include the following
code information for each building proposed:

use before January 1, 1994 may require replacement of noncompliant plumbing
fixtures *** by water conserving fixtures:
• An alternation or improvement to a room containing noncompliant fixtures
(regardless of valuation).
Please note on the plans the specific plumbing fixtures requiring replacement.
*** "Noncompliant plumbing fixtures" are any of the following:
• Any water closet exceeding 1.6 gallons/flush.
• Any urinal manufactured to use more than 1.0 gallon/flush.

3. State the slope of the condensate waste pipe on sheet P1.
4. Describe the method of compliance for temperature limitations for the following
fixture types: public use lavatories limited to 110 degrees F per Energy
Standards 11 0(c)(3) Note: The water heater thermostat may not be used for
compliance.
5. Please review the prosed vent sizing for the entire building. For each drainage
piping system connected to the public sewer that is vented by one or more vent
pipes, the combination of the cross-sectional area of all vents that terminate
through the roof cannot be less than the cross-sectional area of the largest
waste pipe in the drainage system (in this case 4" waste pipe). Note: The cross-
sectional area of a 4" diameter waste pipe is 12.57 sq. in. The cross-sectional
area of a 2" diameter vent pipe is 3.14 sq. in. CPC 904.1

6. It appears the building 1 ¼" water pipe may be undersized if it also feeds
adjacent tenants. Provide complete water line sizing calculations: Include the
water pressure, pressure loss calculations, water demands (for all fixtures
connected to the 1 ¼" pipe), and the developed pipe lengths. CPC 610.0 or
Appendix 'A'. Note: An approved pressure regulator is required where the static
water pressure from the water supply piping exceeds 80 psi. Please address.

7. Specify if any natural gas-powered appliances are under this permit. If so, please
provide the proper CPC 1216.2 Table, the total developed length, and the load

This checklist is intended to assist building permit applicants identify which Climate Action Plan (CAP) ordinance
requirements apply to their projects. Unless none of the requirements apply, the completed checklist must be
included in the building permit application. It may be necessary to supplement the completed checklist with
supporting materials, calculations or certifications, to demonstrate full compliance with CAP ordinance
requirements. For example, projects that propose or require a performance approach to comply with energy-
related measures will need to attach to this checklist separate calculations and documentation as specified by
the ordinances .
