Enclosed are the Building Permit Application and four sets of Architectural-Plans for
submittal to the City of Carlsbad located at 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad, CA 92008
on May 21s' at 2:00 PM. As I indicated via email, the City will require you pay the $160
plan review fee at the time of submission. This fee is based on a construction valuation
of $23,000.00 and an affected area of 25 to 50 square feet. The permit application is 9
pages but most of it we are exempted from based on scope, valuation and the fact
that it is considered a minor interior alteration with no new building square footage.

PURPOSE
This checklist is intended to assist building permit applicants identify which Climate Action Plan (CAP) ordinance
requirements apply to their projects. Unless none of the requirements apply, the completed checklist must be
included in the building permit application. It may be necessary to supplement the completed checklist with
supporting materials, calculations or certifications, to demonstrate full compliance with CAP ordinance
requirements. For example, projects that propose or require a performance approach to comply with energy-
related measures will need to attach to this checklist separate calculations and documentation as specified by
the ordinances.

DESCRIPTION:
ITEM #1: DRAWINGS:
1. Drawing Updates:.
The following are modifications to the original set of drawings dated 05.13.2019. The
drawings have been updated and now include Owner-directed changes indicated by
Delta 4, dated 10.09.2019. All sheets, even those that are not impacted, are included in
this ASI; see clouded areas for' specific revisions.
The intent of these changes is to include minor deferred maintenance as part of the
permitted work while other modifications are taking place. The previously submitted
revision incorrectly listed the removal of six (6) existing sliding glass doors with the
openings to be infilled by a new horizontal sliding window in the exact location, when in
fact there are (8) existing locations. These revisions show the additional (2) locations.
Also, based on existing conditions, a structural engineer was required to provide input
per Inspector request at one of the walls scheduled for removal. Analysis and
calculations have been provided.

1. Drawing Updates:
The following are modifications to the or set of drawings dated 05.13.2019. The
drawings have been updated and now include Owner-directed changes indicated by
Delta 2, dated 08.26.2019. The revised sheets listed on the following page are included
in this ASI; see clouded areas for specific revisions.
The intent of these changes is to include minor deferred maintenance as part of the
permitted work while other modifications are taking place. This revision consists of the
removal of six (6) existing sliding glass doors with the openings to be infilled by a new
horizontal sliding window in the exact location.

The following is our response to comments based on the ASl-01 revised project submittal (dated
August 26, 2019), with drawings originally dated May 13th, 2019. This letter addresses comments
regarding the review provided by Jason Pasiut with EsGil dated September 9th, 2019.
For ease of reference, all original comments have been provided; responses are typed in blue and are
included below each specific item. All modifications to the drawings described in this response letter
are dated September 10th, 2019, marked as "Plan Check #2", and clouded/tagged with Delta 3.
Although revisions only occur on two of the drawings, all sheets have been provided for reference.
For convenience, clouds and deltas from previous revisions and submissions have remained.

Response: Dimensions clarifying the required window sill height has been added per 2016 CBC
Sections 1030.2 and 1030.3. Please see 'Window Types' on Sheet A4.01. Note, per the CBC
the maximum sill height is 44" (42" is only app/icab/e.per the CA Residential Code).
Note on the plans that the access control doors will be in compliance with CBC .1010.1.9.8.
Response: The CB Two Architects teem offers an apology - we noticed that one of the
drawings from the previous plan revision was inadvertently absent from the AS/-0 1 package
provided for EsGil's review which may have caused confusion. As part of the previous plan
check review by Dennis Grubb andAssociates, the drawings were revised to show
conformance with CBC Section 1010.1.9.7 (e.g. Delayed Egress). This information is provided
on Sheet A4. 00 which EsGil did not receive. It has been included as part of this response.
