SUBJECT: INFORMATION ITEM - TEXACO SERVICE STATION - Informational update
on proposed improvement to the canopy and building exterior at the Texaco
Service Station at Carlsbad Village Drive and Interstate 5
I. RECOMMENDATION
Since this is an informational report, no action is being requested and, therefore, no
resolution is being considered and no recommendation is being made. Pnor to issuance
of building permits the Design Review Board is being presented with the information
regarding the proposal.
II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
The project site is located on the south side of Carlsbad Village Drive adjacent to the
southbound on-ramp for Interstate 5. This parcel falls within Sub Area 1 of the Village
Redevelopment Area, which allows commercial uses such as the service station There is
no use change proposed and the existing use is conforming however, since the project is
located in the Special Treatment Area for Carlsbad Village Drive, the proposal is being
presented to the Design Review Board for information prior to the issuance of a building
permit.
The proposed improvements to the existing Texaco service station are minor in nature.
The refurbishment^ involve a new gasoline island canopy and the replacement of the stone
veneer on the building exterior with a metal siding to match the existing siding on the
upper portion of the west elevation. In addition, a new fascia will be mounted on the
building to match the proposed canopy design and materials The existing signage will be
removed during construction and replaced in the same location No new signage or
expansion of existing signage is proposed with this refurbishment.
