PLANS
1. Please make all corrections, as requested in the correction list. Submit FOUR new
complete sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (THREE sets of plans for
residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in
one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 602-
2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering
and Fire Departments.
2. Bring IY:!K)_ corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil, 9320
Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all
remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad
Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil only will not be reviewed by the
City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil is complete.
2. All sheets of plans must be signed by the person responsible for their preparation.
(California Business and Professions Code). This will be verified on each submittal.
3. Plans deviating from conventional wood frame construction shall have the
structural portions signed and sealed by the California state licensed engineer or
architect responsible for their preparation, along with structural calculations.

GENERAL RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
5. Please show landings at exterior doors. There shall be a landing or floor on each
side of each exterior door. The width of each landing shall not be less than the
door served and have a minimum or 36-inches measured in the direction of
travel. Exterior landings shall be permitted to have a slope not to exceed ¼-inch
per foot. Landings or finished floors shall not be more than 1.5 inches lower than
the top of the threshold for outward swinging exterior doors or 7.75" for doors that
do not swing outwards. R311.3.
Sheet A2, at the existing door, shows 75" max height from threshold. Revise
to 7.75".

FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS
9. Please dimension the continuous footing shown on the plans and 1/SD1.
a) Make all dimensions permanent.
b) The foundation was not provided. You have provided two framing
plans.
STRUCTURAL
11. Please show the roofing system or trellises on the framing plan. Section R 106.1.
Is the copper sheet a system? Is the rest of the patio cover open roofed?
12. Please provide cross referenced details for the ledger connection of the 6x10 beams
to the existing residence. The plans only show a HUG.
a) The plans now show 4x8 posts below the 6x10 beams at each side of
the new door, as well as HUC's; provide a connection detail for the
HUC connection and clarify if the beams will be resting on the posts or
connected with hangers.
b) Detail 1/5-1 is called out at the connection of RB-1 and FB-1. This
detail does not reflect this condition. Provide an adequate connection
detail.
PLUMBING
15. Specify on the plans whether the existing house was built before or after 1994.
For additions or improvements to a residence built before 1994, note on the plans
that existing "non compliant" fixtures (toilets that use more than 1.6 gallons of water
per flush, urinals that use more than one gallon of water per flush, showerheads
that have a flow capacity of more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute, and interior
faucets that emit more than 2.2 gallons of water per minute) shall be replaced.
Certification of compliance shall be given to the building inspector prior to final
permit approval. California SB407.

the International Residential Code, International Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code,
