This plan review is limited to the technical requirements contained in the Uniform Building Code,
Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state laws
regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and disabled access. This plan review is
based on regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections
based on laws and ordinances enforced by the Planning Department, Engineering Department
or other departments.
The following items listed need clarification, modification or change. All items must be satisfied
before the plans will be in conformance with the cited codes and regulations. Per Sec. 106.4.3,
1997 Uniform Building Code, the approval of the plans does not permit the violation of any
state, county or city law.

Please make all corrections on the original tracings, as requested in the correction
list. Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans
for residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be
submitted in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)
602-2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468.
Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete.
These corrections are in response to items not fully addressed or as the
result of information provided, the text in bold print indicates the
unresolved issue.
1. Please clarify the section view of the new 78" interior partition wall type 4. Show:
a) Type, size and spacing of studs. Indicate gauge for metal studs. Specify
manufacturer and approval number or indicate "to be ICBO approved".
b) Method of providing lateral bracing. (Please provide complete details of
the tube steel and the connection to the floor and calculations to show the
design to comply with section 1611.5). Please provide the listing and
installation information for the new Tiger brand post or provide
calculations to show the post adequate.
3. Please indicate in the door schedule the type of controlled access hardware and
provide the listing information to show the hardware to be an approved
component of the egress system. Please provide the listing and installation
information for the controlled egress system.
4. Exit doors should swing in the direction of exit travel when the area served has
an occupant load of 50 or more. Section 1003.3.1.5. The reception door #1
which is an egress door must comply.
7. Please revise the single line diagram to show the feeder to panel HA to be 3/0 cu
and not 2/0. Table 310-16 of the NEC. The conductors have been corrected
to the appropriate size but the conduit was not correct for the new
conductor size. Please revise the plans to show a minimum of a 2".
To speed up the review process, note on this list (or a copy) where each
correction item has been addressed, i.e., plan sheet, note or detail number,
calculation page, etc.

This plan review is limited to the technical requirements contained in the Uniform Building Code,
Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state laws
regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and access for the disabled. This plan review
is based on regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections
based on laws and ordinances enforced by the Planning Department, Engineering Department,
Fire Department or other departments. Clearance from those departments may be required
prior to the issuance of a building permit.

Please make all correcti<;ms on the original tracings, as requested in the correction
list. Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans
for residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be
submitted in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected ~ets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)
602-2700. The City will route the.plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468.
Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete.
1. Please clarify the section. view of the new 78" interior partition wall type 4. Show:
a) Type, size and spacing of studs. Indicate gauge for metal studs. Specify
manufacturer and approval number or indicate "to be ICBO approved".
b) Method of providing lateral bracing. (Please provide complete details of
the tube steel and .the connection to the floor and calculations to show the
design to comply with section 1611.5).
2. In buildings having floors and roofs of wood frame construction, other than
dwelling or hotel occupancies, draft stop the area between the ceiling and roof
above so that no concealed space exceeds 3,000 s.f. and no horizontal
dimension exceeds 60 L.F. (if space has sprinklers, then 9,000 s.f. and 100
L.F.). Section 708.
3. Please indicate in the door schedule the type of controlled access hardware and
provide the listing information to show the hardware to be an approved
component of the egress system.
4. Exit doors should swing in the direction of exit travel when the area served has
an occupant load of 50 or more. Section 1003.3.1.5.
5. When additional doors are provided for egress purposes, they shall conform to
the width, swing and hardware provisions in Chapter 10. Section 1003.3.1.1.
6. Please note qn the plans "AC Cable is not allowed in A, B, E, H, and I
occupancies.· NM cable is restricted (without City approval) to one and two
family dwellings. Note on plans that an equipment groun:! conductor is to be
installed in all flexible conduits".
7. Please revise the single line diagram to show the feeder to panel HA to be 3/0 cu
and not 2/0. Table 310-16 of the NEC.

8. Please clarify the single line diagram to show the grounding location for the new
transformer XA.
9. Provide correct the energy designs for the proposed changes in the mechanical
system to show the server AC. Provide the corrected MECH-1-C forms showing
energy compliance.
10. The completed and signed MECH-1-C forms must be imprinted on the plans.
11. Please have the principle designer check the appropriate box in the Statement of
Compliance section of the MECH-1-C energy document and sign the appropriate
portion.
12. Please have the principle designer check the appropriate box( s) in the Statement
of Compliance System Acceptance section of the MECH-1 documents.
13. Please indicate the location of the mandatory measures imprinted on the plans.
14. Show that the minimum strike edge distances are provided at the level area on the
side to which a door swings for door #4, per Section 1133B.2.4.3:
a) ~18" at interior conditions.
