Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad, CA.
Dear Mr. Mike Peterson,
We are trying to have an "electrical permit only," issued
for an added 4000Amp 480Volt service at 1675 Faraday Avenue.
This added service will provide power for the printing presses
and (2) air compressors.
The reasons for requesting this "electric only permit"
(ahead of the press only permit) are as follows:
1. Prior to press installation (approximately a one-month
process) the press pit must be prepared and inspected
(approximately a three-week process). Tenant cannot operate
at new facility until press is functional.
2. San Diego Gas and Electric will require following conditions
completed, before "scheduling utility service,· to building.
A. Main service installation, inspected by City of Carlsbad
Building Department.
B. Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter -Certified Test.
C. Meter application by tenant.
D. Meter release from City of Carlsbad.
San Diego Gas and Electric schedules their field work on
Thursdays. i.e. If all above conditions were met, this week
(prior to Thursday) San Diego Gas and Electric would then
schedule their work, for the following 1-2 weeks.
The San Diego Gas and Electric process, alone, could require
as much as one-month to complete, once the above criteria has
been met.
Therefore, we need to get permitted and begin the "criteria
countdown to completion," as soon as possible.

13. Emergency exitway illumination may be necessary in the warehouse/press area
depending upon architectural submittal, primarily exitpath and occupant load factors.
14. Please specify the wiring methods that will be used at this facility. Local ordinance
restricts the use of armored and NM cables to residential uses only. Clearly specify on
the electrical plans that AC and NM cable shall not be used as a wiring method. (AC
cable may be installed if a full sized equipment grounding conductor is installed interior
of the cable).
