Re 1809 Cottonwood Avenue Building complaint from neighbor
Dear Mr Rudmger
It was a pleasure speaking with you today on the phone
Please accept this letter as requested information for the addition of two windows to my property First and foremost,
I was not aware of the need to contact the city for a permit to do such renovations As I mentioned on the phone,
three other units in my complex (that I am aware of) have done very similar changes without a city permit
To comply, I have attached a diagram and have explained below the alterations/ window changes that occurred at
1809 Cottonwood Ave last week
WINDOW 1
An existing window was replaced with another window of a different size and location on the wall The previous
window was 32 inches by 74 inches This window was removed and the location was "closed up"
The new energy efficient window is 72 inches by 34 inches It is 46 inches from the ground and 19 inches from the
ceiling
The new window is supported with an addition of an 8 foot 4X4 beam on the top of the window and encased with an
additional 4X4 beam structure Although drywall has already been applied, my contractor is happy to open the wall
back up to show the inspector the exact matenal used to support the wall/window
Please note This wall does not have a room above the wall In other words, there is nothing above the ceiling
except a roof needing support of this wall
WINDOW #2. The exact window opening from the existing window was replaced with another smaller window The
existing window was 32 inches by 72 inches

ceiling The area below the new window (where existing window was located) was enclosed and dry walled
