RE: SOILS INVESTIGATION FOR PROPOSED ADDITION:
1810 GUEVARA ROAD
CARLSBAD, CA 92008
On June 4, 1993, hand excavations were made to expose the formational
soil at the subject site. Visual examination of the excavations
indicate the native soil to be reddish brown fine to medium grained
silty sand. The unified Soil Classification for this soil is SM TABLE
29-B of the 1991 Uniform Building Code permits on allowable safe
bearing capacity of 1000 PSF for this class of soil.
The existing formational soils will support the proposed addition
satisfactorily. The new addition is to be founded entirely in the
formational soil on new 2-story foundations as set forth in TABLE 29-B
of the 1991 Uniform Building Code (i.e. 15" min width and 18" min
depth.)
Due to the low expansiveness and firm nature of this soil,
differential settlement and total settlement will be minimal and
within acceptable tolerances.
The water table is anticipated to be at a substantial depth and no
geologic hazards were noted. Seismic risk is that which is similar
throughout the area. Addition is to be engineered for Seismic Zone 4
in the 1991 U.B.C.

Of course the 2 inch air-space clearance to the chimney'must be maintained and
the installation instructions for the anchor plate followed exactly. The
existiug masonry construction must comply with NFPA 211. It is up to ·_the
installer or contractor to assure that a proper transition is made between the
existing masonry clay tile liner and the base of the anchor plate.
Assuming the existing masonry construction.complies with appropriate codes and
the installation of Metalbestos chimney is performed according to appropriate
installation instructions, there should be no anticipated problelllS using
Metalpestos chimney for this type of application.

appropriate school district.
Once you have paid the school fee, a school official has signed the school
fee form, and all other plan check requirements have been met, a building
permit can be issued. The City of Carlsbad will not issue any building
permit without a completed school fee form.
