Description: A. Materials: I. Glass: The glass units are double glazed with a 1/4-inch-thick tempered glass outer face. 1/~-inch air spact• and a 1/4-inch-thick laminated glass inner face. Glazed units are available as Series GC and NC described in Figure No. I and Series GS anJ NS described in Figure No. 2. 8. Skylight Styles: Skylight series. sizes. dome thickness. dome rise, and fas1ener requirements are described in Table No. I. 1. Mounting Options: A. Curb Mounted: Designed for mounting on nominal 2-inch-wide wood curbs supported on wood framing at a minimum roof slope of 15 degrees from !he horizontal. The curb must allow the glass portion of skylights to be 4 inches minimum above the plane of 1he roof when set at an angle less than 45 degrees from the horizontal. Roof cover- ings are removed 12 inches beyond opening. and reset after skylight is in place. The curb must be flashed with minimum No. 26 gauge galvanized steel set in mastic. Flashing installation must comply with Section 3208 of the code. To atlach the skylighl. a 1h-inch bead of mastic is applied to the top of the curb. The aluminum skylight frame is 1hen fastened directly to the wood curb with either 11/~-inch-l\mg No. 10 wood screws or 11/~-inch No. 11 gauge roofing nails. Fasteners arc aluminum or stainless. aluminizcd or galvanized s1eel. The curb-mounted option is illm,tra1ed in Figure No. I. 8. Self-Flashing Curb: Designed for mounting directly to wood roof dcck:ng at a minimum roof slope of I 5 degrees from the horizontal. Self- nashing curb skylights have an integral aluminum base frame eliminaling the need for a jobsite-built wood curb. The curb allows 1he glass portion of the skylights to be 4 inches minimum above the plane of the roof. Roof coverings are removed 12 to 18 inches beyond the ope'ning. and reset after 1hr skylight is in place. A band of mastic. 1/4 inch thick by 4 inches wide is applied around the opening. 1/~ inch away from the opening. The skylight is then pressed onto the mastic and fastened to 1he wood deck with I U~-inch- long No. 10 Type AB pan-head or hex-head TEK screws formed from ·aluminum or stainless. aluminized or galvanized steel. A 4 to 6 inch band of mastic is applied around the curbtbase~ covering the flange to deck juncture. The self-flashing curb option is illustrated in Figure No. 2. C. Idenlification: The units must bear a permanent label noting the manufacturer's name and address. skylight model number and evaluation report number. The glass panes are labeled in ac(:ordance with Section 5402 of the code. 111. Evidence Submitted: Descrip1ive information and details. Findings IV Findings: That the ODL glass skylights comply with the 1988 Uniform Building Code. subject to the following conditions: 1. · Unless specifically noted in this evaluation report supplement, the master report remains valid and unchanged. 2. The roof live and snow loads do not exceed 20 psf. 3. The glass skylights are installed in accordance with Chapter 34 of the code. 4. Installation is limited to heights up to 40 feet above grade where basic wind speeds do not exceed 80 mph. 5. Skylight dimensions are as set forth in Table No. I. 6. Skylights are used only on wood roof construction. This report expires concurrently with the master report dated July, 1988.
