residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in one of
two ways:

Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 602-2700.
The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering

This plan review is limited to the technical requirements contained in the Uniform Building Code,
Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state laws
regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and access for the disabled. This plan review
is based on regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections
based on laws and ordinances enforced by the Planning Department, Engineering Department,
Fire Department or other departments. Clearance from those departments may be required
prior to the issuance of a building permit.
Code sections cited are based on the 1997 UBC.

Revise the code compliance statement on the Title Sheet of the plans consistent
with the current codes stating that this project shall comply with the 2001 editions
of the California Building/Plumbing/Mechanical Codes and the 2004 edition of
the California Electrical Code, which adopt the 1997 UBC, 2000 UMC, 2000
UPC and the 2002 NEC.
2. Provide a note on the plans indicating whether any hazardous materials will be
stored and/or used within the building which exceed the quantities listed in UBC
Tables 3-D and 3-E.
Clarify the section view of all new interior partitions. Show that the top track is
braced at no more than 6'-0" OC to comply with UBC 1611.5. It appears that the
partial height partitions have only corner bracing. See 5/TI-5.
Why does sheet P-i, M-1 and E-i show an elevated platform within the testing
chamber? What is purpose of the elevated platform. Provide disabled access to
the elevated area.
It appears that the existing shell, previously unconditioned, did not comply with
the energy envelope standards. Provide copies of the envelope energy
compliance forms and include on the plans required wall and roof insulations
and specify the type of new glazing required.
On the plans clearly show the wall and roof insulation locations, thickness, and
R-values, as per the energy design.
The completed and signed ENV-1, forms must be imprinted on the plans.
