The lack of identification of panelboards in the various electrical rooms negates a "location" check of panelboards and a continuity check of the single line diagram. 10. Hopefully, the 1,000 ampere existing service disconnects are GFP protected. Identify (if there are GFP protected) as such on the single line diagram and note that a GFP certification will be required for each switch. These services were performed during the period of April 13 to June 4, 1998. Site development consisted of the construction of a parking lot addition at the subject site and included remedial grading and subgrade, base, and asphalt concrete compaction. The scope of services consisted of the following: • Observing the grading operation, including the processing of loose surficial soil; • Performing in-place density tests on fill, subgrade soil, and base material placed and compacted at the site; • Performing laboratory tests on soil and asphalt concrete samples to evaluate their compaction characteristics and resistance value; • Preparing this final report of testing and observation services. SITE AND PROJECT DESCRIPTION The site consists of approximately 2.9 acres located south of the McCleJlan Palomar Airport approximately at the intersection of Camino Vida Roble and Owens Avenue in Carlsbad, California. It is understood that the site was sheet-graded in 1993, with elevations varying from 264 feet above Mean Sea Level (MSL) on the north side of the pad to 250 feet MSL on the south. 6960 Flanders Drive • San Diego, California 92121-2974 • Telephone (619) 558-6900 • Fax (619) 558-6159 The project geotechnical report for the current improvements was entitled Limited Geotechnical Investigation <for> PSB Lending Corp, Parking Lot 32, Owens Avenue and Camino Vida Roble, Carlsbad, California^ dated October 30, 1997 by Geocon Incorporated. The project plans were entitled PSB Lending Corp Tenant Improvement, Lot 32 Site Plan, Sheet A-2, dated February 9, 1998 by Milo Architecture Group. The grading contractor for the project was F J. Willert Contracting Company, Incorporated. Base and asphalt concrete was placed by Southland Paving, Incorporated. GRADING AND PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION Grading began with the removal of vegetation and other deleterious material from the area to be graded. The ground surface was scarified and moisture conditioned to an approximate depth of 12 inches. Grading consisted of minor cuts and fills on the order of 1 to 2 feet thick. Fill soil was derived from on-site excavations and was moisture-conditioned, as necessary, and compacted in layers until the design elevations were attained. In general the fill material consisted of silty, fine- grain sand and clayey sand derived from the Eocene-aged Santiago Formation. During the construction operations, compaction procedures were observed and in-place density tests were performed to evaluate the relative compaction of the fill, subgrade, base, and asphalt concrete material. The in-place density tests were performed in general conformance with ASTM Test Method D-2922-81 (nuclear). The results of the in-place dry density and moisture content tests are summarized on Table I. Laboratory tests were performed in general conformance with the applicable ASTM Test Method. The results of the laboratory tests are presented on Tables II, HI and IV. In general, the in-place density test results indicate that the fill soil has a relative compaction of at least 90 percent at the locations tested. Subgrade, base and asphalt concrete tests indicate that these materials were compacted to at least 95 percent relative compaction at the locations tested. PAVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS Laboratory tests on soil samples collected at the site yielded resistance values (R-Value) of 17, 23, and 63, and it was concluded that the original pavement section recommendations, which were based on an R-Value of 22, remain applicable. The following table presents the pavement recommendations. It was assumed that the pavement surface will have automobile and light-duty truck traffic only and will not be subjected to heavy-duty truck traffic.
