Please make all corrections on the original tracings and submit two new sets of

The jurisdiction's building department.
Each sheet of the plans must be signed by the person responsible for their
preparation, even though there are no structural changes. Business and
Professions Code.
Clarify if there are new mechanical equipment units. If there are new mechanical
units, then indicate the weight and show they are adequately supported. Plans
and calculations shall be signed by the California state licensed engineer or
architect where there are structural changes to existing buildings. Please include
the California license number, seal, date of license expiration and date plans are
signed. Business and Professions Code.
Update all code reference sections in the "Tenant Improvement Notes" on sheet
T2 to the 1994 UBC.
Provide a note on the plans indicating if any hazardous materials will be stored
and/or used within the building which exceed the quantities listed in UBC Tables
3-D and 3-E.
Fixed or operable glazing panels adjacent to a door must be safety glazing where
the nearest exposed edge of the glazing is within a 24-inch arc of either vertical
edge of the door in a closed position and where the bottom exposed edge of the
glazing is less than 60 inches above the walking surface. Section 2406.4. See the
sidelights at doors 2 and 4.
Note on plan that suspended ceilings shall comply with UBC Tables 25-A, 16-0
and 16-B.
In buildings having floors of wood frame construction, draft stop the area
between the ceiling and floor above so that no concealed space exceeds 3,000
s.f. and no horizontal dimension exceeds 100 L.F. Section 708.
The tenant space and new and/or existing facilities serving the remodeled area
must be accessible to and functional for the physically disabled. See the
attached correction sheet. Title 24, Part 2.
Provide return air into rooms 217 and 218 on sheet MP-3. Section 1005.8.1.

11. Complete detail D/A6 showing the wall material, and the size and gage of the
metal studs. Specify manufacturer and approval number or indicate "to be ICBO
approved".
12. Provide an exit analysis plan (may be 8 1/2" x 11" or any convenient size).
Recheck the exiting in the areas of rooms 233, 242, 250 and 251 as follows:
Rooms with more than 10 occupants may have one exit through one
adjoining room. Revise exits to comply. Section 1003.5. Recheck all
exiting through intervening rooms. The exits may not be into a corridor
and then through an intervening room.
Exit signs are required whenever two exits are required. Show all required
exit sign locations. Section 1013.1.
C) Corridors must provide continuous protection to the exterior of the
building. Interruptions by an intervening room is not permitted. Foyers,
lobbies or reception rooms constructed as required for corridors are not
considered intervening rooms. Section 1005.1.
d) Corridors serving 30 or more occupants shall have walls and ceilings of
one-hour construction (interior corridor for the rooms identified above).
13. Exit doors should swing in the direction of exit travel when the area served has
an occupant load of 50 or more. Section 1004.2. See door 9 at room 208.
14. Reference detail U/A6 at the 1 hour corridor near room 217 (detail V/A6 is
incorrectly referenced). Section 1005.7.
15. Recheck the door notes on sheet Al. The rated corridor doors 8, 9 and 10 may
not be undercut.

17. Provisions in Chapter 7 require special treatment of penetrations at fire-resistive
assemblies. Provide typical details on the plans showing how the fire-resistive
integrity will be maintained at plumbing and electrical penetrations (Include the
manufacturers' names and ICBO numbers (or equal) for any sealant).
If all penetrations are metal and less than or equal to 4" diameter, note on the
plans: "All plumbing and electrical penetrations of fire-resistive assemblies will

REMODELS. ADDITIONS AND REPAIRS
When alterations, structural repairs or modifications or additions are made to an existing building,
that building, or portion of the building affected is required to comply with all of the requirements for
new buildings, per Section 1134B.2. These requirements apply only to the area of specific alteration,
repair or addition and shall include:
a) A primary entrance to the building and the primary path of travel to the area in question,
and include the following items which serve the area in question:
Sanitary facilities. Sign the sanitary facilities note on sheet T3.
Drinking fountains. Show the drinking fountains comply.
Public telephones. Show the public telephones comply.
Sign the site accessibility note on sheet T3. Also
