Flammable liquids will require hazardou~ area electrical work including: pumps and equipment rated by U.L. or FM for hazardous service, heavy wall conduit aboveground in the area of the tank, and appropriate junction boxes. Equipment not rated for hazardous areas must be located outside the zones described by local codes. An emergency electrical disconnect is required to be mounted in a location visible from the dispenser. The switch is .normally mounted on a building wall or a post. The switch must be marked as an emergency shutoff switch. Electrical grounding is required for flammable liquid tanks. The tanks include a ground- ing lug on the 2 inch nipple used for the vent pipe. The aboveground system replaces two former underground tanks which have been removed under County of San Diego, Department of Environment Health. For the new system, we have obtained the appropriate permits from the local APCD, as well as Carlsbad Fire Department permit. Under our Authority to Construct from APCD, and under the Fire Department permit, copy attached, a 4,000 gallon split-compartment aboveground triple wall fuel storage tank has been installed. Two existing dispensers-one gasoline and one diesel-have been reinstalled. The manufacturer's recommended specifications for the concrete foundation, seismic dimensions, and spill containment have been constructed. We have also complied with the Uniform Fire Code.
