The fill was placed during the period between March 21 and April 4, 1974. The approximate area and depths of filled ground placed under our inspection in accordance with the approved specifications are shown on the attached Drawing No. 1, entitled "Location of Compacted Filled Ground. " The grading plan used for the placement of filled ground was prepared by Rick Engineering Company „ The approximate locations at which the tests were taken are shown on Drawing No* 1 and the final test results are presented on page 3, under the 'Table of Test Results^ " The laboratory determinations of the maximum dry densities and optimum moisture contents of the majo'- fill materials are presented on page 4, under the "Laboratory Test Results. " Some of the maximum dry densities shown in the 'Table of Test Results" were combinations of these0 The tests were taken during the weekly periods indicated below: Test Number Week Ending 1 to 9, inclusive March 23, 1974 10 to 22, inclusive March 30, 1974 23 to 32, inclusive April 6, 1974 The final results of tests and observations indicate that the compacted filled ground has been placed at 90 percent of the maximum dry density or greater. It has been determined that the fill materials, compacted to 90 percent of the maximum dry density, have a safe bearing value of 1700 pounds per square foot for one foot wide continuous footings founded 2.0 feet below the final compacted ground surface and placed five feet or more inside the top of compacted filled COSTA DEL MAR ROAD RANCHO LA COSTA CARLSBAD CALIFORNIA 92008 TELEPHONE 714 729-9111 June 11, 1974 CITY OF CARLSBAD Planning Department 1200 Elm Avenue Carlsbad, California 92008 Subject: HOTEL PARKING Gentlemen, Enclosed is an aerial photograph, as well as a plan, of the La Costa Hotel-Spa parking facilities. We presently have (147) rooms in the Country Club Hotel buildings and (52) rooms in the two existing Spa-Hotel buildings. With the addition of our two proposed Spa-Hotels of (48) rooms, we will have a total of (247) rooms and 092) parking spaces. Something to be considered is the fact that more than half of the guests who stay in our hotel — especially the Spa-Hotels — do not arrive by car. The majority of our guests arrive at San Diego Airport or Palomar Airport and are picked up by our Transportation Department and brought to La Costa. We have never had a hotel parking problem at La Costa and feel that the parking facilities provided more than meet the demand. Sincerely, Lester L.
